The Colo River is the last clean river in the Sydney basin. The Colo has remained unblemished because it flows out of
a monumental wilderness - the Wollemi National Park. The rough, impenetrable terrain that characterises the Wollemi
is best illustrated in the discovery of the Stone Age 'Wollemi Pine' only a decade ago. The Colo snakes through the
Wollemi, past great gorges and over rapids, before emerging in the narrow river valley of the Upper Colo. Downstream, the
valley opens up where the Colo drains into the Hawkesbury at Lower Portland, where it's waters carry onto the Pacific
Ocean at Broken Bay. But the upper reaches are characterised by steep canyons and mountains, stretching off over a limitless
horizon. In the Upper Colo you feel cut-off from the rest of the world. Where else can you be only two hours outside of a
major city and feel so wonderfully isolated? At night, the Milky Way shines down unadulterated by city lights, appearing as
nature intended. You will see what we mean if you come and see the Colo. We think it really is the most beautiful place on
earth.
